Like every year engineering departments of worldwide universities gather in Varano de’ Melegari for Formula SAE, a student design competition. Here, real racing cars designed, built and driven by the students’ teams, race against each other in different series, including internal combustion engine and electric vehicles.
The event, arranged from July 12 to 16 by ANFIA (Italian Association of the Automotive Industry) has seen the participation of nearly 1.600 students from 20 countries, representing 56 university teams.
Each team can run in several categories: the electric car class, the internal combustion class, the driverless class and the class without a physical prototype.
Podium Advanced Technologies introduced here the “Best Battery Award”, the prize for the electric car class. This prize meant to acknowledge the team that did the best job in developing a battery system in terms of concept degree of innovation, battery pack performance and BMS design.
“The team of University of Zwickau has won our Best Battery Award 2023 for designing an exceptional battery that facilitated the car’s excellent performance in dynamic tests” comments Francesco Monti, CEO of Podium Advanced Technologies and Formula SAE’s jury member.
The prize, a EUR 1.500 cheque, was presented to the winning team by Francesco Monti at the closing ceremony.
“It is very important for us to support these university events. Universities are a breeding ground for new talent, the lifeblood for companies like ours” Monti adds.
Podium Advanced Technologies is currently managing several internship programs with some of the most prestigious academic institutions in Italy as Politecnico di Torino and Politecnico di Milano, offering students to try their hand at a real workplace environment.
